This Collaborative Law Basic Training is offered via Zoom on 4 afternoons (Monday, January 29, 2024, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Monday, February 5, 2024 and Tuesday, February 6, 2024)  from 1-5 p.m.

Training objectives include:

• Learn the basic theories, practices, and skills needed to effectively practice the Collaborative Law Process.

• Learn the Collaborative model as a dispute resolution process designed to work with interpersonal relationships and create client-centered solutions.

• Introduce interest-based negotiation and other problem-solving tools needed to successfully conclude cases.

• Understand the dynamics of interpersonal conflict in a divorce situation and how effective communication can transform conflict.

• The benefits of a professional Collaborative team (lawyers, mental health professionals, and financial specialists) and the role each plays in the Collaborative Law Process.

• Why the Collaborative Law Process can be a healing process for clients and their children.

• How to assess a client’s suitability for the Collaborative Law Process.

• Learn and observe the skills for taking a Collaborative case from the first interview to the final documents.

• Ethical considerations of Collaborative professionals.

• How to start your Collaborative practice.
